AIB have appointed Ronan O'Neill, currently Head of Corporate and Commercial Banking, as managing director of their UK division.
Mr O'Neill joined AIB in 1979 and has also held senior posts in Risk and Credit functions.
AIB UK's current managing director Nick Treble is to take on a new role as Head of Non-Core UK.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Michael Noonan has said he does not see "any reason" to move away from the Government's pay cap of €500,000 for senior bank staff.
