The chief executive of the Irish Nationwide building society is leaving the lender following its takeover by Anglo Irish Bank, management at Anglo told staff today.
Gerry McGinn, who took charge of the failed lender two years ago, is taking over as managing director at AIB's First Trust business in the North. Mr McGinn will also sit on the AIB executive committee.
His responsibilities at Irish Nationwide will be taken over by John McGloughlin who is the building society's chief financial officer.
Irish Nationwide, one of the main lenders at the heart of Ireland's financial crisis, is being wound down, together with Anglo, as part of the country's EU/IMF bail-out.
