The number of redundancies fell 30% year-on-year last month, according to new figures released by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
Last month there were 3,680 redundancies, compared to 5,257 in June 2010.
There was also a decrease month-on-month, with 4,116 redundancies recorded in May.
There have been 24,892 redundancies so far this year, down 25.7 % on last year's figures of 33,519 to June 2010.
Earlier this week, figures from the CSO showed the number of people on the Live Register continued to rise this month, an in crease of 2,900 from May bringing the total to 446,800.
It was the biggest monthly increase since July last year.
The unemployment rate in June was estimated at 14.2%, up from 14.1% last month
