The Government's car scrappage scheme comes to an end tomorrow.
The scheme, which was announced in December 2009, offered motorists €1,500 off new low emissions cars if they scrapped their own cars that were aged 10 years or older.
The scheme was initially meant to expire in December last year but it was extended in a modified form until this month.
Alan Nolan, director general of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry, told RTÉ radio the scheme had been very successful. New car sales figures have been showing big increases since the scheme was introduced, having dropped sharply in the economic downturn.
