Trade union leaders at Superquinn have written to the company's senior management seeking an urgent meeting on the future ownership of the company.
The Superquinn group of trade unions, which represents the 2,500 staff at the Irish retailer, said that recent media speculation about the possible sale of the company has caused some unease among the company's staff in relation to the future of their jobs. The group includes the MANDATE Trade Union, SIPTU and the Bakers' Union.
MANDATE Assistant General Secretary Gerry Light said that as well as the 2,500 jobs in Superquinn, the trade union grouping is determined to ensure that the 3,000 jobs at the retailer's suppliers and service providers are retained.
