European expansion by an American mobile phone and electronic device accessories company will see 170 new jobs created at Shannon Free Zone in Co. Clare.
US company ZAGG International Distribution Ltd and its partner, CREGG Logistics, will create the jobs with the support of Shannon Development. The company produces screen shields for personal electronic devices including iPhones, mobile phones, and laptops.
ZAGG's parent operation is headquartered in Utah and it will initially create 40 new jobs in sales & marketing, product design and administrative activities as part of a European expansion.
ZAGG has partnered with a new firm, CREGG Logistics, that will produce and distribute the full range of ZAGG products. CREGG will create 130 new jobs over two years.
Brian S. Packer, MD of ZAGG International, stated that he expects a total of 300 jobs to be created over the next four years in Shannon through the venture.
The decision by the companies to create the new jobs was a massive vote of confidence in the Shannon region and the Irish economy, said the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton.
'I am developing plans to achieve growth in the economy and to create and protect jobs through reducing costs for business, improving access to finance, and in innovation and R&D. I will be pushing for these measures to be included in the Jobs Initiative at the end of May,' the Minister said.
