Official figures show that industrial production in February was 0.2% higher than in the same month last year.
The Central Statistics Office said production in the 'modern' sector - which includes high-technology and chemicals - fell by 0.8% from a year earlier. This was the sector's first annual fall since April last year. Production in the 'traditional' sector rose 0.6%.
Production in February fell by 2.3% compared with January. The three-month figure from December to February showed a 0.4% increase compared with the previous three months. The industrial production figures are adjusted to take seasonal variations into account.
