The waste company Greyhound have promised price reductions after completing deal to takeover household waste collection the South Dublin council area.
This is the second local Dublin authority to privatise bin collection following Dun Laoghaire/ Rathdown's decision last year.
Greyhound said it will start its domestic bin collection for 70,000 homes in South Dublin on April 4th.
It already collects recycable waste from 500,000 homes across 12 local authorities.
South Dublin County Council said in a statement that the changeover will not affect current arrangements and Greyhound said it will honour all current waivers.
The council said the privatisation will not lead to any redundancies among its staff.
