Figures from the Irish Aviation Authority show that air traffic at Dublin, Cork and Shannon fell in February compared with the same month last year.

Shannon showed the biggest drop, with the number of flights down 17.2%, while Cork flights fell by 12%. There was a much smaller 0.5% drop at Dublin.

Air traffic on the North Atlantic - including flights which do not touch down in Ireland but use its airspace - was down 1.4% from a year earlier. IAA chief executive Eamonn Brennan said the February drop was disappointing after a 9.4% annual rise in January.
