Welcome to RTÉ.ie's Money section, our new one-stop shop for all the latest on personal finance.

This is the part of the RTE website where we will archive all the output on radio and TV related to this hot topic.

But we also want you to share your tips with other RTE website users and to give you a chance get personal finance questions answered by experts in the Your Questions section.

The site is  packed full of tips and fact sheets on all the main areas of household finance, mortgages, pensions, shopping, insurance, etc.

And over the coming months we will be adding more sections, more guides, and some tools to help you with calculations relating to your own personal situation.

One of the biggest sections on the site is devoted to personal debt, something relevant to everyone as the austerity measures of Budget 2011 kick in.

Everyone will be affected by the budget cuts, whether you are working or not, and if you're not already in debt, you'll be working to stay out of it.

The personal debt section has been compiled with the help of all the major agencies dealing with this area including the Money and Advice Budgeting Service (MABS), the Free Legal Aid Centre, The Consumer Agency, and Citizens Information.

In this section you will be able to get expert advice on dealing with debt, whether it’s just a credit card bill or an overwhelming mountain of debt arising from mortgage arrears.

We want this site to be helpful to you; we want it to be lively and packed full of tips for everyone, whether it’s a tip on saving money on health insurance, reducing your energy bill, or finding the best deal for broadband of mobile phones.

We have an entire section devoted to your tips and for your questions – if there is anything troubling you, you can email us here at money@rte.ie and we will endeavour to get answers from our panel of experts.

Likewise if you’ve any great tips that you want to share with others, tell us and we will publish the best tips. Again, email us at money@rte.ie.

Over time, we aim to make this section the easiest place on the RTÉ website to find the archive of great personal-finance-related material from all of RTE’s main radio and TV programmes including Morning Ireland, The Pat Kenny Show, the News at One, Liveline, Drivetime, Prime Time and The Frontline.

All of these programmes have dealt with personal finance in the past, but in the future this is where you will find the links to those discussions in one easy at-a-glance archive.

We hope the site will be of use to everyone and we would love to get your feedback.

So feel free to email us with criticism, praise, tips or questions.
