Ryanair says it carried five million passengers in December, an increase of 2% from the same month in 2009. But the load factor, or percentage of seats filled, dropped by one point to 80%.
Earlier, Ryanair announced a new route from Cork to Milan Bergamo. The new service will operate twice a week and will start in June.
Last month, Ryanair said it was cutting routes at a number of German airports next summer. It blamed a new €8 travel tax introduced by the German government.
The airline says it will axe four routes from Berlin, eight from Bremen, 13 from Dusseldorf Weeze - including a route to Kerry - and nine from Frankfurt Hahn.
