Drinks group Britvic Ireland is looking for around 100 redundancies after a review of its business. It is expected that these will take place over the next month.
The company, whose brands include Ballygowan, 7Up, Club and MiWadi, currently employs around 730 people in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Thurles and Belfast. 12 of the planned lay-offs will be in Northern Ireland.
Britvic Ireland announced late last year that it was planning changes in its Irish business, as the continuing economic weakness hit its sales and profits.
It said there had been a shift in consumer spending habits in Ireland, with declines in the pub and convenience store sector.
Britvic said its new strategy was designed to help it to grow in a changing Irish drinks market, and would include a restructuring of its sales and marketing teams. It said it remained committed to the Irish market, saying it had made significant investments in its Dublin and Thurles facilities.
Managing director Andrew Richards said the company would continue to talk to staff and union representatives about its planned changes over the coming month.
In its annual results for the year to October 3, Britvic wrote £104m (€123.7m) off the value of its properties and other assets in Ireland.
