Irish pension managed funds saw further gains in December, giving an average return of 3.5% for the month, according to the latest figures from Rubicon Investment Consulting.
Irish Life Investment Managers was the best performing managed fund, with an average return of 4.2% for the month. Aviva Investors and Setanta Asset Management were last with returns of 3%.
Managed pension funds have risen by 5.7% over the last quarter of the year, with returns ranging from a high of 7.4% from Standard Life Investments to a low of 3.8% from Irish Life Investment Managers.
2010 saw positive returns in eight out of 12 months, to give an annual return of 11.1%.
But Rubicon says that the average managed fund return has been a very disappointing -4.1% over the past three years. Irish group pension managed funds returns over the past ten years have also been poor, with a return of 1.1% a year on average.
