You can park in Dublin for half price up until January 9, 2011.
Dublin City Council launched this scheme in November and it means you can park in the centre of town for just €1.45 an hour instead of the usual €2.90 an hour.
To avail of the cheaper parking, you need a special parking tag which you affix to your windscreen.
You can register online and it will be sent out to you in the post or you can drop into one of several offices or libraries and pick one up.
The parking tag is the same as the one introduced in the last year for electronic payment for use on metered parking spaces around the city.
You can pay over the phone or by text.
The tags can be picked up in the following offices:
-
Dublin City Council, Wood Quay
- Motor Tax office, Smithfield
-
Ilac Centre library
-
Pearse Street libary
-
Kevin Street library
- Rathmines library
The tag is a bar-coded sticker which is affixed to the front windscreen of the user’s vehicle.
The tag is linked to the vehicle registration number and the motorist’s mobile phone.
The motorist simply parks in any paid parking space in the city and makes the transaction by a short phone call (local call) or by sending a text message.
It’s that easy!
