Ardagh Glass Group has complted the deal to buy global metal packaging group Impress Co-operative for €1.7 billion from private equity firm Doughty Hanson.
In a statement, the company said that both the European and US regulatory authorities have approved the deal. The new enlarged company will be known as Ardagh Group.
The new group will employ approximately 14,000 people and have annual revenues of over €3 billion.
Ardagh Glass is the largest glass manufacturer in the UK and the third-biggest player in Europe, while Impress is the number two can manufacturer in Europe as well as the world's biggest seafood can-maker. It makes cans for household names such as John West, Del Monte, Crown Paints and Proctor Gamble
