Irish companies have announced a number of new deals as part of Enterprise Ireland's trade mission to Brazil.

The trade mission had brought 34 Irish companies to Brazil with an aim to increase export sales to this vast market. Enterprise Ireland said the country holds huge business opportunities for Irish firms as Brazil is in the middle of major modernisation, infrastructure and development projects.

Louth company Suretank has won a contract - worth €900,000 - to supply its cargo carrying units to ISEW, a major supplier of tanks and containers to the oil and gas exploration industry.

Monaghan's Combilift has secured a deal valued at €800,000 with Brazilian steel giant Gerdau.

Instant Upright - based in Dublin - has also announced a joint partnership with Mills of Brazil, one of the country's biggest specialist engineering services companies. The deal is initially worth €140,000 but is expected to lead to sales of over €2m in the next three years.

Dublin company Web Reservations International says its Hostelworld.com brand has agreed a three year deal with Despegar.com, one of the biggest online travel agencies in Latin America.

Donegal company Mantis Cranes has one of its customised self-erector cranes currently on trial with Construtora e Incorporoda Rossie, one of the top constructors of the Brazil government's current housing development programme.

The Irish and Brazilian governments have also signed a bilateral deal for co-operation in the fields of education and research, which will advance relationships between the countries' educational institutions.
