Spending on online advertising in Ireland has jumped over 12% year-on-year, according to a study from PricewaterhouseCoopers and IAB Ireland.
The study revealed that €53.9m was spent in the first six months of this year on online advertising, up from €48m last year, a jump of 12.3%.
The growth has been attributed to increasing numbers of people going online, and the internets ability to engage consumers.
Over two-thirds of participants in the study said they expected growth or strong growth in the next six months
Advertising on social media sites and paid-search advertising both performed very strongly according to the study.
Online classified advertising again showed a strong performance with a 26% of total adspend.
Auto was the top performing category for the first half of 2010 with 22%.
In second place was the recruitment/property sectors combined at 19%.
