The wholesaler group AIM has announced plans to create 2,175 retail jobs in Ireland over the next four years.
The company, which owns the Iceland frozen food franchise, plans to open 40 new stores across the country in addition to the four it now operates. It opened a new store in Dublin's Ilac shopping centre today.
It also plans to open 15 new discount home stores under the Home Savers brand. Today's €25m investment will also see the opening of fifty €2 stores.
And recruitment company Sigmar has announced the creation of 40 new jobs. Ten of the vacancies are already filled.
The move will bring the company's workforce to more than 100, close to the number it employed before the start of the recession.
