TECH EYES ARE ON DUBLIN - TECH EYES ARE ON DUBLIN - The Dublin Web Summit is taking place at Chartered Accountants House in Dublin.

Indian internet entrepreneur Divyank Turakia, now 28, started his Directi business at the age of 16, and it has now grown to employ around 600 people. He said India was cost-effective compared with other places, but senior management talent in the country was very expensive as there was a shortage.

Asked about Ireland, Mr Turakia said he noted that many other technology companies were based in Ireland, and he was investigating whether that would make sense for his company,

Philip Meagher is one of the founders and chief executive of an Irish internet start-up called gruupy.com, which sells discounted electronic goods. It has 1,000 subscribers at the moment and is planning to move into the US market. He said he intended to stay in Ireland, and that the recession had made it easier to find good staff.
