Abbey shareholders told of 'progress'

House builder Abbey has told shareholders that trading in the first few months of its financial year has been satisfactory.

Chairman Charles Gallagher said progress was being made in all parts of the business, with a 'modest' improvement in its plant hire business.

He that in southern England, activity was continuing 'at a steady rate', while sales had picked up in recent weeks in Ireland after the summer holidays.

'On present trends the group is on course for a reasonable outcome this year,' Mr Gallagher said.
