Official figures show that the volume of industrial production in June was up 5.9% compared with the same month last year.
The Central Statistics Office said production in the modern sector - which includes chemicals and technology - rose at annual rate of 4.9%, while the traditional sector showed growth of 7.5%.
But provision figures for the second quarter of 2010 showed that production volumes fell by 3.6% compared with the first quarter, mainly due to a 5% fall in the pharmaceutical sector.
