Ratings agency Fitch said today it foresaw improved prospects for four leading car makers in a market that is recovering faster than had been expected.
The agency raised its outlook on Renault and PSA Peugeot Citroen of France and Daimler and Volkswagen of Germany.
But it maintained its 'negative' reading on prospects for Fiat of Italy.
The outlook on Renault and Peugeot went from 'negative' to 'stable' and was raised to 'positive' from 'negative' for Daimler. The outlook on Volkswagen went from 'stable' to 'positive'.
Fitch said that although Fiat total sales were growing more rapidly than had been expected, it wanted to wait until it had received more information on Fiat's new structure before altering its outlook.
