The B3 Cable Solutions plant in Longford is to close, and 106 workers have been told that they have been made redundant.
The company, which manuctured copper cable for Eircom and other customers, went into receivership last Friday week.
This evening receiver Alan Flanagan told staff at a meeting of the workforce that he has been unable to sell the firm as a going concern and would now be closing the plant.
B3 will now go into liquidation and its assets will be sold piecemeal.
Union representatives have already expressed concern that sufficient funds will not be available to make redundancy payments to the staff.
