The receiver appointed to B3 Cable Solutions in Longford has said it will be next week before he can confirm any details about the future of the factory.

The staff were laid off last week and the company put into receivership due to a dramatic decline in business. There have already been calls for replacement jobs for the midlands town.

Only a handful of administrative staff have been working at B3 in Longford since last Thursday, with the rest laid off as the search for an alternative owner started.

Despite the passing of a deadline for expressions of interest at noon today, receiver Alan Flanagan has said he will have no update on the future of the factory until next week at the earliest. This morning he met B3 customers.

Longford Chamber of Commerce president Seamus Butler says state aid is needed. B3 is one of Longford's largest employers and finding alternative employment for its 106 staff will not be easy.
