Exploration company Tullow Oil says it has found oil in another well to the south-east of its Jubilee Field off the coast of Ghana.
Exploration director Angus McCoss said the Mahogany-5 appraisal well was the fourth of five in the area to encounter oil.
Meanwhile, AIM-listed exploration company African Diamonds plans a $1m drilling programme in Botswana in the coming weeks. Its AK6 diamond mine is due to start operating in Botswana late next year.
The company says the drilling will enable it to find out whether the areas being drilled can be developed as stand-alone mines or feeder mines for AK6.
