Irish-owned aircraft maintenance firm Eirtech Aviation has said it will create 71 jobs at Dublin Airport.

The company already employees 65 workers in Shannon following a management buy-out of Lufthansa Technik Painting Shannon.

The company says the number of jobs in Dublin is expected to rise to 100 in five years and the move is being supported by Enterprise Ireland.

Eirtech Aviation provides refurbishment, painting and engineering services to commercial airlines.

'Our customer base includes international airlines, leasing companies and private jet operators and the establishment of our Dublin base provides greater flexibility to our clients,' said Niall Cunningham, the managing director of Eirtech Aviation (Dublin).

'Eirtech Aviation is the latest Irish-owned aircraft maintenance company to establish in Dublin Airport and that will strengthen our reputation for high-quality maintenance services for the aviation industry worldwide,' the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O'Keeffe said as he announced the new jobs today.

New Audi site promises 30 jobs

The Audi Centre in Ballsbridge in Dublin is to expand its operations by investing €1.4m in a new site at the Sandyford exit on the M50. The new facility will employ up to 30 people.

The new Audi South Dublin Service centre will open in July and it will include facilities to repair high technology vehicles such as the new Audi A8 and R8 V10.

'This service excellence centre demonstrates the strong commitment by our dealer organisation to making the investments necessary to achieve the best levels of customer service in the industry,' said Frank Lennon, Aftersales Manager at Audi Ireland.
