Exploration company Tullow Oil says it has performed strongly in the first few months of this year.

In a trading update issued to coincide with its AGM, it said its financial performance was in line with expectations. It also stuck to its forecast of producing 55,000-59,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day this year.

Tullow also said it was looking forward to producing the first oil from the Jubilee field in Ghana by the end of this year.

It said it was awaiting approval from the Ugandan government to speed up its plans for the Lake Albert Rift Basin. Tullow is still also awaiting approval to take over assets in Uganda which it has agreed to buy from Heritage Oil.
