A new website has been developed to provide relevant information and guidance to mortgage holders who may be experiencing financial difficulties.
www.helpinghomeowners.ie is the brainchild of the Irish Banking Federation and was developed in partnership with the country's 12 main mortgage lenders.
The new website emphasises the importance of a borrower getting in touch with his or her lender to work together in finding a mutually acceptable, sustainable solution.
It also gives information on the IBF pledge on home repossessions and the IBF/MABS protocol on debt management.
