Insurance group Generali PanEurope has announced plans to create up to 30 new jobs at its base in Navan, Co Meath. It also plans to move to a new premises in the town.

The Generali Group has been in Navan since 1999. Its two subsidiaries, Generali PanEurope and Generali International, currently employ 108 people.

The company says the 30 new jobs will include actuaries, technical product specialists and other positions. It says the new jobs are the result of growth in European and international markets.

General PanEurope also plans to expand its European variable annuity business at Smithfield in Dublin by adding a number of new senior positions.

'Ireland remains a good location from which international financial services firms can expand into Europe and beyond,' said Generali PanEurope CEO Paul Gillett.

Generali is to acquire a new site from IDA Ireland, where it will commission a new building in the IDA Navan Business Park, at Athlumney, Navan. The new building will accommodate Generali PanEurope's headquarters and Generali International's Irish base.
