Production at the country's manufacturing industries rose by 13.7% in February compared to the same time last year, the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show.
The CSO says that basic pharmaceutical products and preparations rose by 33.4% while computer, electronic and optical products dropped by 32.3%.
Today's figures reveal that the modern sector - made up of a number of high technology and chemical sectors - showed an annual increase of 18.5% in February. An increase of 0.5% was also recorded in the traditional sector.
Turnover in the manufacturing sector fell by 3.6% in February.
