Official figures show that factory gate prices - prices before they reach the consumer - rose by 1.5% in January compared with December.
This still left prices 2.8% lower than in January last year, according to the Central Statistics Office.
The main factors in the monthly increase were higher prices for chemicals and pharmaceutical products.
Building and construction prices rose by 0.9% in January, while prices of energy products were up 0.8% - including a 2.7% rise in petroleum fuels.
