Oil prices rose this evening, lifted by a weaker US dollar and cold weather after three straight losing sessions.
Forecasters say unusually cold weather will settle across key heating fuel consuming regions in the US this week, in the wake of heavy snow over the weekend.
The euro recovered slightly from its lowest levels for eight months against the dollar, having fallen as traders worried about debt troubles in Greece, Portugal and Spain. Crude prices often rise when the dollar weakens, as oil becomes cheaper for investors holding other currencies.
US crude rose 66 cents to $71.85 a barrel, having fallen as low as $69.50 on Friday. In London, Brent crude rose 51 cents to $70.10.
