The Montrose Hotel in Dublin 4 is to close with immediate effect, for the next three months.
More than 80 staff have been temporarily laid off.
Staff were called to a meeting at the hotel this morning where they were told that there are plans to renovate the hotel. But management said there were no immediate plans to re-open it in place.
