The Carlton Hotel Group has taken over the Fels Point Hotel in Tralee, Co Kerry.
The chairman and CEO of the Carlton Group, Michael Kearney, said that, despite the tough environment for the sector, the group expected further deals of this type in Ireland and Europe.
The new Carlton Hotel Tralee brings to 10 the number of hotels in the Carlton portfolio. It currently employs more than 900 staff.
Earlier this year it added the Carlton Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick and the Carlton Hotel Galway City (formerly Days Hotel) to its stable.
Since it opened as Fels Point Hotel in June 2007, the hotel has been home to the Rose of Tralee Festival.
