German luxury car maker Audi has said that its November sales gained 8.9% from the previous month to 82,750 vehicles, as Chinese deliveries more than doubled.
Audi 'has surpassed its annual sales target in China' with a leap in November deliveries of 16,503, or 101.9% more than in the previous month, a statement said.
In the first 11 months of 2009, Chinese sales have gained 28.6% to 139,872 units, it added.
Globally, Audi, a unit of Volkswagen, sold 870,600 autos in the period from January through November, which is 5.4% less than in the same period of 2008 however.
Yesterday, German rival Daimler said its November sales had gained 16.4% on the month, and also unveiled a doubling of Chinese deliveries.
Audi sales also gained in Europe by 4.4% in November, with a spike of 14.2% in Britain.
German sales slipped by 1.5% however, while US deliveries were stable.
