There was a decrease of 38% in the number of new vehicles registered in November, according to the Central Statistics Office.
The latest figures show that 1,647 new vehicles registered during the month, down from 2,707 for the same period last year.
Of those new vehicles, 948 were private cars (down 19.3%) and 476 were goods vehicles (a fall of over 50%).
Nearly 60% of the new private cars were diesel, with 37.7% petrol.
In terms of make, Ford was the most popular company, with 132 vehicles sold in the 30 days.
