Anglo Irish Bank is to move its year end, or the end of its financial calendar, to December 31 from September 30.
It is understood the development will allow the bank take the write-downs to its capital base as a result of the National Asset Management Agency before the end of this year.
The change of year end will also bring Anglo Irish Bank into line with other State-owned companies.
