KILSARAN PAVES THE WAY TO GROWTH - Bucking the trend in the concrete sector, the Kilsaran Group has retained 60 jobs and created another 60 at its new paving and manufacturing plant in Dunboyne, County Meath.

The group has invested €30m in a paving, manufacturing and processing plant which, it says, changes the dynamic of the company, moving it away from its traditional construction business, which is down by as much as 50%.

Tom Tevlan, managing director of Kilsaran Lifestyle, said the last 18 months had been very difficult, but Kilsaran had decided about two and a half years ago to re-invest in its paving business with a view to becoming a player in the European market.

Mr Tevlan said it had won some prestigious contracts, including paving for the new terminal at Dublin Airport and the Wexford County Council offices. He said the company had built fully landscaped gardens in Clonee so that consumers could see the product range in its proper setting. He said he expected 40% of sales to be direct to consumers. The 60 new jobs range from production and manufacturing to sales and technical support.
