Kildare hotel battling for survival
The Stand House Hotel, situated opposite the Curragh racecourse in Co Kildare, looks set to close next month with the loss of approximately 50 jobs.
The hotel's owners, the Irish Turf Club, say they are presently in a consultation process with staff in an attempt to prevent closure.
However, if a solution is not found then the premises will close some time around mid-October.
A fall-off in revenue has been cited as the main reason behind the decision to close the premises.
The work force at the hotel, was gifted to the Turf Club by the Aga Khan, is made up of full, part-time and casual employees.
