32 jobs lost as Spawell firm ceases

Spawell Licenced Premises, which ran sections of the Spawell complex in south Dublin, has ceased trading with the loss of 32 jobs.

Mandate, the union which represents the workers, confirmed that CB Taverns, trading as the Spawell Licenced Premises, ceased trading last night.

In a statement released today, Mandate said it had been given no information about whether the company would be going into liquidation.

It also said there was no indication if redundancy would be provided to staff members.

The union said it has scheduled a meeting with CB Taverns for Friday and is hopeful that staff will have their wages paid up to date and an 'appropriate' redundancy package offered.

The closure affects a pub, restaurant, snooker hall and nightclub at the complex in Templeogue.
