Marks and Spencer has announced a permanent price cut of up to 12% across its clothing, furniture and homeware products. The lower prices will come into effect from tomorrow.

'The 'We've listened. We've lowered' campaign follows pressure from M&S customers to reduce prices. The average price cuts on clothing lines will be 10% and on furniture and homeware will be 12%.

'We know things are tough for our Irish customers at the moment and we want to help them by making our products even better value for money,' commented Jonathan Smith, Head of Ireland M&S.

M&S is due to open its 20th Irish store in Clonmel, Co Tipperary next week and employs about 3,500 here.
