The former chief executive of C&C, Maurice Pratt, has been named as the new chairman of European Movement Ireland. This is a voluntary organisation dedicated to explaining the work of the European Union in jargon-free terms.
It runs a series of campaigns and events during the year to make direct information available to the media, business, students, parents, academics, social groups and other interested local organisations.
'Now more than ever it is vital that Ireland redefines what role it hopes to play in Europe and what relationship we would like to have with our European partners,' commented Mr Pratt.
