The future of British clothing retailer Principles is in doubt after administrators admitted they have failed to find a buyer for the chain's stores or brand.
Debenhams is reportedly interested in buying Principles' stock from administrators Deloitte, but with no buyer in sight there are increasing worries over the fate of the firm's 2,300 retail workers.
Debenhams already hosts a number of Principles concessions in its outlets.
Mosaic Fashions, the parent company of Principles, has offloaded the rest of its brands, including Oasis, Warehouse and Coast, following its move into administration on Monday.
Former Rubicon director Peter Davies, who ran Principles from 2001 to 2005, announced last week that he had made a formal offer to reacquire the chain.
The brand was created in 1984 to provide clothing aimed at ‘career women at affordable prices’, developing its focus on to fashion for the ‘30-something’ customer.
The chain also has locations in Ireland.
