Fears are growing for the future of aircraft maintenance firm SR Technics - formerly Team Aer Lingus - which employs over 1,200 people at Dublin Airport.
RTÉ News has learnt that the company's CEO Bernt Kessler, who is based at the company's headquarters in Switzerland, held a meeting with Tanaiste Mary Coughlan today to discuss the company's difficulties.
There has been concern about the financial situation at SR Technics for some time. The company recently lost a number of key contracts, including three maintenance contracts for its former owner Aer Lingus.
However, RTÉ News has learned that the management from SR Technics headquarters in Switzerland were in Dublin today to hold a high level meeting with Tanaiste Mary Couglan and IDA Ireland CEO Barry O'Leary
It is understood that they outlined the serious and difficult market situation facing the company.
Union representatives at the firm have been summoned to a meeting with management at 8.30am in the morning. One source said that when staff are invited to a meeting like that, it usually involves 'a serious announcement of some magnitude'.
A further briefing for staff members will take place at 9.30am.
