United Drug has said it is seeking to cut job numbers at its Irish businesses by just under 100 as part of a cost saving programme.
The company provides services to pharmaceutical retailers and manufacturers and is one of the biggest drug wholesalers in the country.
It said it talking to workers about a restructuring programme which would involve cuts of 10% in its 900-strong workforce in the Republic and a 5% reduction in its worldwide workforce of 4,500. This would mean a total of around 300 job cuts.
United Drug said it also planned to cut salaries and bonuses for management.
Last autumn, the company announced a shake-up of its business structure following a number of acquisitions.
