A number of high-profile hotels in Dublin are currently in talks about reducing staffing costs over the coming months.
Several hotels in the capital have already introduced reduced working weeks for their staff as the Irish hotel sector faces into what many expect will be one its bleakest years ever.
A number of hotels such as the Green Isle at Newland's Cross and Gresham Hotel on Dublin's O'Connell Street have already put staff on three day weeks.
RTÉ News understands that a number of high-profile Dublin hotels are currently in talks with trade unions that could see similar measures being introduced in order to cut costs.
Management at the Skylon Hotel on the Upper Drumcondra Road said that it was currently holding talks with SIPTU on cost-cutting measures, but said it had recently expanded and was continuing to take bookings throughout the coming year.
The Shelbourne Hotel on Stephen's Green has refused to comment on claims that it is currently seeking a radical reduction in staff costs, but said it was continually looking at ways of controlling its costs and assessed these on a month-by-month basis.
