Bernard Somers has announced that he will resign from the Board of AIB on December 2008 in order to avoid a conflict of interest.
Mr Somers also heads corporate restructuring consulting firm Somers & Associates.
AIB also said today that the term of senior independent director Mike Sullivan has been extended from the end of December and he will now retire from the board at the bank's AGM on April 29, 2009.
David Pritchard will take his place in April.
