A new index shows that the average price of a hotel room in Ireland fell at an annual rate of 8% in the three months from July to September.
The Hotels.com's price index - a survey of hotel prices in major destinations across the world - shows that the average price of a hotel room in Ireland was €102, down from €111 the same time last year.
Irish hotel prices saw the second largest price drop, behind the UK where prices were down 13%.
Globally, the survey shows that North American prices were down 5% on average, while Asian prices remained flat and European hotel prices rose by just 2%.
The average price of a hotel room in Dublin dropped by 10% between the months of July and September to €98 from an average of €109 the same time last year. Galway remains the most expensive city in Ireland for a hotel room (€131), while Limerick is the cheapest (€74).
At the higher end of the price scale, Moscow hotel prices average €259, making it the world's dearest city. It was followed by Monte Carlo (€237) and New York (€219).
