Monthly figures published by the Irish Stock Exchange today show that the overall value of shares traded on the exchange have fallen by just over 63% so far this year.

The value of funds listed on the Irish Stock Exchange fell to €33.6 billion at the end of last month, from €90.4 billion on 31 December last year.

Broken down by sector, the financial index is down almost 86%, reflecting the poor performance of bank shares.

The Small Caps index is down by 70%, and the ITEQ, which trades technology shares, is down by 30%.
