New figures show that factory gate prices increased by 1.2% in October, compared with a decrease of 0.7% the same time last year.
The Central Statistics Office says that as a result, the annual percentage change showed an increase of 2.6% in October of this year compared with an increase of 0.7% in September.
The CSO says that the price of energy products jumped by 10.6% in the year since October 2007, while petroleum fuels rose by 9.4%. In October of this year, there was a monthly decrease of 3.1% in energy products, while petroleum fuels dropped by 10.6%.
The most significant changes were seen in the prices of basic chemicals, which rose by 2%, office machinery and computers (up 1.8%) and pharmaceuticals and other chemical products (up 2%).
In the year, the most significant changes were seen in the price of other food products, including bread and confectionary, which jumped by 9.7%. Prices of pharmaceuticals and other chemical products rose by 7.5%, while basic chemicals increased by 3.3%. There were decreases in office machinery and computers (down 7.3%) and dairy products (down 8.6%).
